The NHL has held outdoor games in Stadium settings over the years but the Outdoor Games in Lake Tahoe games were the first to be held against a natural backdrop. The games were held Feb 20-21, 2021. Time was tight, Tokens presented several ideas all based on use of natural 100 year old re-claimed Doug Fir to evoke the beauty of the Sierra wilderness.
Commemorative Puck Bottle Opener
We provided several options for functional gifts. The NHL settled on a design inspired by Tokens' popular game used puck bottle openers.
Game Used Puck Bottle Openers
The Doug Fir was worked by hand into the exact dimensions of a puck & hand-sanded, finished & laser engraved with the Outdoor Games 2021 artwork. The bottom of the wooden puck was cored out to accept Tokens' bottle opener hardware.
In Production
A small piece of blue vinyl tape was placed in the cavity of the opener hardware to evoke the deep blue of Tahoe.
A custom thank you card was developed conveying agreed-upon language with the client. The puck itself was placed in our NHL theme window gift box and then tied off with an orange ribbon.
