Scoreboard Wall Art


In 2023, when Ohio State University replaced the St. John Arena center-hung scoreboard, Tokens was asked to create some unique samples from this familiar University artifact.  We isolated a scoreboard digit and framed the circuit board in cherry wood.  Not wanted to stop there, we ticked it up a notch and had a local engineering student provide wiring to activate the countdown, from Nine to Zero.

Project Details

 

Upon receipt of the scoreboard panel from the client, Tokens ideated and came up with an elegant custom cherry wood frame to isolate and draw attention to the panel.  The bottom is engraved "St. John Arena Scoreboard Ohio State University 1987 - 2019".  The fun came when we decided to animate the board so that it would display a countdown from 9 to 0.  Big thanks to a local engineering student who helped us with making that happen.

Presentation

Any Tokens item always comes with a Story/Authentication Card that shares the who, what, when & where for any artifacts we are working with.  The artifact will often have a historical timeline related to its use.  An item like this would be presented in a kraft box.

More About Past Prototypes

 

Tokens is based on the creative re-use of existing, authentic materials.  Often times we get an inspiration or receive some materials from a client that triggers a design concept.  In many cases, we find real materials deserve real samples.  While these are not for sale, they are shown here as a representation of our capabilities.  If your organization has some materials that you'd like to memorialize in this fashion, we'd love to collaborate on a custom program with you.
