Buffalo Memorial Auditorium opened in 1940. Thirty years later, it was renovated and became home to the Buffalo Sabres from 1970-96 and the now defunct Buffalo Braves. Affectionately known as "The Aud," the arena hosted NCAA games, collegiate hockey matches, professional lacrosse and indoor soccer tournaments, and music concerts.
