    Additional Product Information

In the middle of the 1946-47 season, Maple Leaf Gardens was the first NHL arena to install plexiglass around its rink. Prior, there was either nothing above the boards or just framed chicken wire, in which uniforms would occasionally get caught. Though plexiglass has been known to shatter - especially in the early years when blades hit plastic - it has become an icon of the game and remains the best way to shield fans from flying pucks.
