Miller Park

April 08, 2021

Miller Park was built in 2001 and the stadium has garnered rave reviews throughout its history for its retractable roof and great amenities.  From the outset, it was sponsored by Miller Brewing Company whose 20 year naming agreement expired in 2021.  A new sponsor was signed and Miller, who is now part of Molson Coors, wanted to preserve and share the long time relationship via functional gift items.

For many it will always be Miller Park.  Of the variety of signage throughout the stadium, collaboration with the client revealed that if the eagle on the iconic clock tower just outside of the stadium could be transformed into bottle openers, this could be the functional gift they sought.

The removal and the lowering of the sheet metal signs were featured extensively on social media and local news in the Milwaukee area.  Many bystanders commented on the sadness of losing this familiar city sight.  The signs were carefully crated and transferred to the Tokens facility in Berkeley, California.

The Eagle centerpiece proved most interesting in terms of color & detail and Tokens began creating some samples to share with the client.

The resulting bottle opener has a clean, modern look where the metal strips from the sign were applied to a wood handle.  The Tokens opener hardware and a loop were added.  A story card and the black Tokens box rounded out the presentation and shipping began.  From start to finish this project took about 4 months.
